Description

Moog Subsequent 37 Analog Synthesizer

The Sub 37 Tribute Edition is also the first Moog synthesizer in over 30 years to play more than one note at a time.

Outfitted with 40 knobs and 74 switches, the Sub 37 Tribute Edition places each critical sound creation element and live performance tool immediately at your command. Included are two fully programmable modulation busses with extensive assignment capabilities, two looping DAHDSR envelopes for vertiginous polyrhythms and an immensely programmable Arpeggiator/Sequencer. The panel of the Sub 37 Tribute Edition also provides instant access to Duo Mode, which activates independent performance control over oscillator 1 and oscillator 2.

In addition to standard level and mute controls for internal and external sound sources, the Sub 37 Tribute edition mixer also offers feedback control, which allows audio output from the filter to be sent back into the mixer – a trick often utilized on the Minimoog Model D that results in thick, overdriven bass sounds.

Sub 37 | Analog Architecture

Moog Music Chief Engineer Cyril Lance gives an overview of the technical effort and advancements made during the design of the Sub 37 analog synthesizer. This video includes insights on the Sub 37’s new VCO design, mixer architecture, filter topology, as well as the implementation of paraphonic functionality via Duo Mode. Sonic exposition of the Sub 37’s performance potential is presented by formidable multi-instrumentalist Cory Henry.
